Lacuna Coil: Comalies

26/11/02  ||  Lord K Philipson

I think it was last year that I got to hear about these spaghetti-eating fuckers. Anyways, I’m fucken grateful as you all know I’m a sucker for female vocalists, especially if they are goodlooking as a matter of fact.

Let’s make this perfectly clear right away. I haven’t heard all the albums these Italians recorded, only the ones I get sent to me as I spend my non-existing cash on Alice Deejay and Dark Funeral discs.

If I was to describe the Coiler’s, (damn, that sounds like a second grade NFL team…) I’d say they are fuck-metal. You know… music to play when some killer-chick is at yer place and you wanna get into her panties.

Hahaha… I am so witty, me and Seinfeld are like brothers.

Die.

Yeah, fuck-metal is the term for these guys. All very slow and moody shit and on top of it is Christina Scabbias’ (I don’t like her last name, it reminds me of a veneral disease actually…) wonderful voice. but ofcourse they have to throw in this fucken dude with his half-ass voice that just makes me wanna drown him in tomato-sauce (note the reference to Italy). Lose the guy and these idiots could be on my favelist for Italian bands. Then again, this is like the only Italian band I know of I think. Well, I know of Antropophagus but it´s not really the same thing…

There’s something about Christina’s voice (it might be her looks too, I´m not sure) that makes me fully like this band. Not that it’s like the best songs I ever heard or anything like that, but female vocals just do the trick for me. I’d have her in my band any day.

She’s that nice to listen to.

If you want aggression, you shoud not check out the Coiler’s, it’s as non-existent (I think I have used that word twice in this review and it´s not even my favourite-word) as the hair on my back. It’s all soft and emotional with some more “tough” passages that aren’t exactly “tough”. I liked their last album “Unleashed Memories” alot, and this one sounds like that one to be honest. If you gave me a CDR with songs from both albums mixed into it, I wouldn´t be able to tell what´s new or what´s old. It’s that similar.

Let’s end this fucker right here with the most essential part of the review, what it all boils down to:
